BravoTV’s “Top Chef Masters.”

Chef Douglas Keane is the winner of the fifth season of BravoTV’s “Top Chef Masters.”
In the eight years that Chef Douglas Keane owned and operated his flagship restaurant, Cyrus, in Sonoma County, he amassed a litany of local and national awards.  Keane’s cooking follows a simple philosophy known as Shibumi, learned from his recent travels in Japan.  Shibumi is a Japanese word meaning refined simplicity, simple elegance, unobtrusive beauty and quiet perfection.

After graduating from Cornell University’s School of Hotel Administration, Keane found himself working for a decade in some of the best kitchens of the United States. Each of these different yet equally important learning experiences helped to lay the foundation for an incredible eight year run at Cyrus in.  For seven consecutive years, he maintained both two stars from The Michelin Guide as well as four stars from the San Francisco Chronicle.  Keane won the James Beard Award for Best Chef Pacific, Esquire Magazine Chef of the Year and Gourmet Magazine’s Top 50 Restaurants in America.

Currently searching for a new home for Cyrus and other more casual but exciting restaurant projects, Keane oversees the Healdsburg Bar and Grill, a successful casual American burger joint in Sonoma County.

He spends an equal amount of time on his other passion in life, dog rescue.  Keane helped start Green Dog Rescue Project in Sonoma County and remains active daily, in training, rehabilitating and fundraising for his four legged friends.  If Douglas Keane is not cooking on any given day the Dearborn, Michigan native can be seen driving three or four dogs around idyllic Sonoma Wine Country in his prized 1997 Ford pick-up truck.  Douglas and his wife Lael live in beautiful Alexander Valley with their three dogs Indie, Finnegan and Cash.
